We welcomed Claire Newberry as our guest speaker.

Claire is a Knitware designer who lives locally, and she showed us how to make a very simple shape of top, using basic measurements and holding position.

She then showed us her designs for industry, and described her 30 year plus career, from textile student to freelance designer, including various spells as a university teacher. Post pandemic she is using more sophisticated CAD designing, which enables her to submit designs virtually.

It was fascinating to hear about the quite rigorous demands of the industry, and how she has survived in it. Claire is a great designer and communicator.
