This meeting was devoted to the Garter Carriage with Elaine Cater as our guest and demonstrator.

After cobbling together a working garter carriage from two machines, we had already learned much from Elaine about how these work!  The club’s Brother KH881 machine would work with an 88-II carriage, but this had a blown fuse, so we patched it up with the cable from the 93 carriage [suitable for electronic models], and there was no problem.

Elaine demonstrated how to cast on and knit a couple of rows with it, then showed us many beautiful items she had knitted with the garter carriage.  Along the way were many hints and tips.
