June 2012

Monday 11th June

Those of us who braved the exceedingly wet weather to come to the club meeting for Beryl Jarvis’ talk on the ribber were not disappointed.

She concentrated on producing fabric rather than welts, and we were in for a treat.  There was a demonstration on

  • adjusting the ribber
  • easy placement of the ribber comb
  • fisherman’s and English rib
  • diagonal ribbing
  • incorporating a contrast ridge into your rib
  • using the LiLi buttons [I wondered what they were for!]
  • using the end stitch presser [it will be around somewhere!]
and various other explanations of things we have never really got to grips with.
She brought with her all her info sheets, which are always of use.
An excellent and rewarding demonstration!
Beryl’s set up before the demonstration.  Notice she uses two chairs to add height, especially important when using the ribber to protect your back!
Beryl started the session with an explanation of what she was going to show us, then went on to demonstrate
