Colour Theory
Our first meeting of the new year was devoted to colour theory, as a prelude to demonstrations of techniques used to introduce multiple colours to your work.
I presented an audio visual talk on colour theory from various angles: how colour is perceived, using a colour wheel to choose colour schemes, the psychology of colour and how to choose colours to suit different people.
I used and mentioned various references, including these which I found most useful – clicking on them will take you to their sites:
The colour wheel and colour theory
Also an interactive DyeMixer if you want to see how your dyeing might work out – this one uses Java
Plating
I demonstrated plating on the Brother machine [using the plating feeder attachment], while Pat showed us how on the Knitmaster [using the normal feeder, but putting the plating yarn in first and pulling it over the rear bar, before inserting the main yarn as normal].
There is a description at this site of how to start plating on various machines
Our pattern this month uses plating and is a Plated Tuck Cushion
