Anne Lavene

We had a larger than usual group [38] this month, because we had a special visitor.

Anne brought a fantastic collection of garments and patterns in her unique style, and inspired us all with her approach to machine knitting. She described how she was familiar with it from a very early age, through her mother’s machine knitting, and how she overcame her initial distance from machine knitting to develop her own style. Then we were treated to a detailed look at various garments and their construction, a video of Anne and her friends and customers at Ascot races [wearing a stunning variety of her designs], and finally a demonstration of how to incorporate a raglan sleeve in a one piece sideways knitted top.
